Highlights from the Oct. 5 and 12 ASA Student Council Meetings
Each Wednesday, the Augustana Students Association (ASA) Student Council members meet in the ASA boardroom for their regular student council meetings. At the meetings, councillors discuss the ASA’s operations and upcoming projects. These meetings are open to the student body.
At the Oct. 5 meeting, ASA President Ben Curry confirmed that an employment festival is in the works. Council members were urged to gather questions about the New Augustana Calendar from constituents.
Two students, Shaye Seefried and Addie Oluwajana, were present and looking to fill the vacant Off-Campus Representative position. Council moved in camera, meaning only elected councillors were allowed in the room while they discussed the appointment as the matter was deemed to be confidential. ASA Council appointed Oluwajana to fill the position.
During the Oct. 12 council meeting, council discussed several projects that are in the works: Projects include an off-campus supper, wellness week, and the return of After U, a program that helps students thinking about what they can do once they graduate.
Ben Curry confirmed he will meet with Dean Allen Berger to discuss the new buildings that are planned East of the soccer field as well as the electric car station near First-year Residence.
The ASA council confirmed the date for its Fall Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m. in the Wahkohtowin Lodge. Council is planning to discuss the New Augustana Calendar, Fee Referendum, and Sexual Violence Awareness at the AGM. Students are encouraged to attend and bring questions and free food will be provided by the ASA.
